Four Corners Monument. This is one of the most unique landmarks in the United States. Arizona, New Mexico, Utah and Colorado meet at the Four Corners. And it is the only place where you can be in four states at the same time.

The history. First established in 1868 (Colorado's southern boundary) and finalized in 1901 when the northern boundary of Arizona was surveyed. A small marker was erected in 1912. The Monument was refurbished in 1992 with a bronze disk with the four state seals.
The area surrounding the monument is Indian land. The Navajo and Ute people live in the area. The area has been home to native peoples for hundreds of years. Archaeologists have recorded numerous ancient Puebloan sites dating prior to AD 1300 throughout the Four Corners area.

The visit. The Visitor Center is open all year round. There are also picnic tables and restrooms (but no water).
